cumulative culture in non-human primates; primate behavioural responses to shifts in predation pressures; automated approaches to find fossil sites, etc.). Primate Genome Evolution and the Mechanism of Origin: As a complement to our analysis of human variation, we focus on understanding natural genome variation between humans and other primates. We compare the pattern of human segmental duplication to other primate species (chimpanzee, gorilla, orangutan, macaque, marmoset and lemur). Skull Analysis Virtual Lab Report Instructions: As you complete each slide of the Skull Analysis Virtual Lab Activity, please fill in this lab report with the appropriate information and data. Title: Skull Analysis Lab Objective(s): Hypothesis: I predict that the unknown skull will most resemble Australopithecus afarenis because their eye sockets and cheek bones are structured the same.

Many of the about 15.000 human lncRNAs are expressed in the brain and multiple lines of evidence have linked them to important brain functions, such as neurogenesis and behavior, or have associated them with neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases.
The first primate-like mammals are referred to as proto-primates. They were roughly similar to squirrels and tree shrews in size and appearance. The existing fossil evidence (mostly from North Africa) is very fragmented. These proto-primates remain largely mysterious creatures until more fossil evidence becomes available.

Cambridge, UK: Cambridge University Press. 442 pp. Primate Evolution Figure 3.1 Anthropoid Evolution by Keenan Taylor. While we have no primate fossil material prior to the Eocene Epoch, the first primates are thought to have evolved prior to the Paleocene Epoch (66–56 mya), possibly as far back as 90 mya, during the Late Cretaceous Period .

Researchers in Susana’s new lab ‘Primate Models for Behavioural Evolution’ conduct a broad variety of exciting studies on the evolution of human behaviourusing extant primates as models (e.g. cumulative culture in non-human primates; primate behavioural responses to shifts in predation pressures; automated approaches to find fossil sites, etc.). Primate Genome Evolution and the Mechanism of Origin: As a complement to our analysis of human variation, we focus on understanding natural genome variation between humans and other primates.
